Russia’s Lavrov: West, Israel Lack Plans for Palestinian State

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed the establishment of a Palestinian state within international mandates during a Federation Council session, noting the lack of Western inclination to establish a unified Palestinian state. Lavrov emphasized the divergence between current Western and Israeli intentions, highlighting a disinterest in merging Gaza with the West Bank, contrary to established decisions.

Lavrov stressed the necessity for Israel’s withdrawal from Palestinian territories, advocating for the formation of a sovereign Palestinian state based on the UN Security Council’s 1967 resolutions. He outlined Russia’s efforts in resolving the conflict, prioritizing the evacuation of Russian citizens and provision of aid to Gaza. Lavrov underlined the significance of achieving a sustainable ceasefire and the establishment of a Palestinian state as crucial goals in addressing a longstanding issue persisting for 75 years.
