Rwanda and DR Congo Sign US-Brokered Peace Deal

Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo signed a US-mediated peace agreement in Washington, ending decades of conflict in eastern DRC. The deal was reached at the US Institute of Peace after talks hosted by US President Donald Trump with Presidents Felix Tshisekedi and Paul Kagame.

Trump said the accord includes a permanent ceasefire, disarmament of armed groups, the return of refugees, and accountability for past atrocities. He added that the two countries will deepen economic cooperation and that the US will gain access to critical minerals through future partnerships.
