S-300 air defense system destroyed in Ukraine, Russia says

Igor Konashenkov, Spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Defense shared the latest situation regarding the war in Ukraine. “High-precision sea-based Kalibr missiles south of Dnipro destroyed the S-300 air defense missile system, which was stored in the hangar and supplied to the Kyiv by a European country. 4 S-300s launchers and up to 25 Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel were also targeted,” Konashenkov said.

Konashenkov noted that Russian air defense systems shot down a Ukrainian Su-27 aircraft near Izyum, and three unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed near Balakleya, Gulyai Polje and Volnovakha in Kharkiv region, and one unmanned aerial vehicle was destroyed near Kaliniskoe in Mikolayiv region. Noting that the Mi-24 helicopter belonging to Ukraine was shot down near Posad-Pokrovskoe in the Kherson region, Konashenkov emphasized that the Russian Air Force destroyed 78 military elements of the Ukrainian army.

Konashenkov stated that a total of 129 aircraft and 99 helicopters belonging to the Ukrainian army, 243 S-300, Buk-M1, Osa AKM air defense systems, 441 unmanned aerial vehicles, 2,079 tanks and other armored vehicles, 239 multi-barrel rocket launcher systems, 909 howitzers and mortars, and 2003 private military vehicles were destroyed.

Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger announced last week that they were sending the S-300 air defense system to Ukraine.
