Sandstorm in Northwest China

Strong winds caused a sandstorm in Qinghai province, northwest China. Due to the storm, the cities of Haixi, Tibet and Mongolia were covered with a cloud of dust. Transportation was disrupted. The wind speed reached 53 kilometers per hour, authorities reported. Visibility dropped to 181 meters, and some areas were plunged into darkness.
