Savatra Ancient City to become landmark in Turkey’s Konya

Work on the Roman Theater and the mosaic structure unearthed in Konya’s Savatra Ancient City continues. During the excavations, it is hoped that important artifacts in terms of cultural assets will be brought to Konya and Turkey.

After the visit to the Roman Theater and the mosaic area, Savatra Ancient City Excavation Director İlker Işık shared information about the excavations. “We are starting to unearth the seating of the theater during the excavation works. Here we also encountered a large mosaic floor on an area of ​​approximately 160 square meters. The mosaic is generally in good condition. According to the finds, it presents examples of late Roman and early Byzantine. We intend to bring important works of art to our city and country in terms of cultural assets,” Işık said.
