Scores killed, injured in a week long Haiti gang violence

In Haiti, 89 people were killed and 74 others were injured in the ongoing gang wars in the capital city of Port-au-Prince last week. The conflict between two rival gangs in the Cite Soleil district of the capital Port-au-Prince resulted in a security crisis involving thousands of innocent people. It is believed that 47 of those killed were gang members, while the remaining 42 were neighborhood residents caught in the crossfire. According to reports, the gangs have closed the entrances and exits to the Brooklyn Neighborhood, which is located in the Cite Soleil area and is home to thousands of poor people.

G9 and G-Pep gang members have reportedly been fighting for control of the region.
