Shanghai faces food and medicine shortage after Covid-19 curfew

Since late March, Shanghai, China’s largest city, has been under curfew. Shanghai officials claim that the city has adequate supplies of rice, flour, oil, and meat. However, some Shanghai residents are now having difficulty purchasing daily necessities and seeking medical services, among other difficulties.

To address these concerns, a city official stated that the city is doing everything possible to maintain the stability of transportation, inventory, and supply chains. Liu Min, deputy director of the municipal commission of commerce, also stated that supermarkets and e-commerce behemoths have banded together to help Shanghai ensure daily supply delivery.
