In Türkiye’s Muş province, a key hub for animal husbandry with 1.2 million small livestock, breeders persist in their work despite severe winter conditions. In the high-altitude Kamiş hamlet, shepherds brave freezing temperatures and deep snow daily to care for their animals.
Starting their mornings with warm meals and feeding their goats barley and hay, they guide their herds to oak-rich areas for grazing. Despite the challenges, including getting soaked up to their waists in snow and rain, breeders adapt by carrying spare clothes and cooking meals outdoors. Their dedication ensures the animals return to the pens fed and sheltered each evening.
