An armed attack took place at a street party held in Washington, D.C., the capital of the USA, within the framework of Juneteenth, where the liberation of African-Americans is celebrated. After the turmoil that broke out before the attack, dozens of police officers came to the scene, and then gunfire was heard. A great chaos ensued as the panicked crowd fled around because of the attack.
Police Chief Robert Contee said in a statement to the incident that a 15-year-old teenager died in the attack, and three people, one of whom was a police officer, were injured. Expressing that the police teams cordoned off the area after the incident, Contee noted that it is not yet known whether anyone was targeted in the attack. The injured were taken to the hospital, and their condition reportedly was stable.
