Six killed, several houses torched in Kenyan Al-Shabab attack

Al-Shabab militants attacked a village in Kenya’s coastal county of Lamu on Monday, killing at least six villagers, local officials stated. The attackers, who are believed to have crossed over from Somalia, set fire to several houses in Lamu County, according to Lamu County Commissioner Irungu Macharia. Residents said tensions in the area remained high as security operations increased, citing fears of more attacks. The latest attack was claimed by Al-Shabab militants, who have carried out numerous attacks in Kenya over the last decade.
