SkyDrive Tests Flying Car in Tokyo, Eyes 2028 Launch

Japan-based SkyDrive Inc. successfully conducted the first demonstration flight of its “SD-05” flying car in Tokyo. The electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft flew for about 3.5 minutes over Tokyo Bay, covering 150 meters in a remote-controlled test.

The SD-05, designed to carry one pilot and two passengers, is targeted for commercial operations in Japan by 2028. CEO Tomohiro Fukuzawa said urban air mobility could significantly reduce travel times and, after 2030, potentially lower costs compared to taxis.
