Small Plane Crashes on Road in US State of Georgia

Two people were injured when a small aircraft made an emergency landing on a busy road in Gainesville, in the US state of Georgia, and collided with vehicles. The single-engine Hawker Beechcraft BE-36 hit three cars after experiencing mechanical problems shortly after takeoff.

The National Transportation Safety Board said the plane was flying from Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport to Cherokee County Regional Airport when the pilot reported engine trouble. Unable to reach the airport, the pilot attempted a road landing, injuring two drivers and forcing the closure of the road.
