SMO Discoveres Elevator at End of PKK/YPG Tunnel in Tel Rifat

Syrian national army soldiers found an elevator system for underground escape at one end of a tunnel in Tel Rifat, which was cleared of the PKK/YPG. According to SMO, the tunnel, which is estimated to be 40 kilometers long, is entered from the gardens of houses.

“We walked for almost two hours. The tunnel is very long. We still continue. It goes under my uncle’s courtyard, in a field with a roof over it. It is like an underground city,” said SMO soldier Abu Ahmed.

“Every day we discover a tunnel that opens with a new system in the city of Tel Rifat. We detect an opening every 200-300 meters north of the hospital and every day we see a new entrance to the tunnel. There are rooms inside with electricity, a water well, bathrooms and ammunition. These tunnels are very important. They hide in these tunnels so they are never found,” said SMO soldier Abu Ali.
