A huge fire broke out at the Malagrotta waste-treatment plant in Rome, Italy, yesterday evening. Rome Fire Department announced that the fire was brought under control after the effort of more than 60 firefighters since yesterday evening. Authorities stated that the surrounding kindergartens should be closed due to the heavy smoke in the region.
The police began an investigation into the fire, authorities announced that discussions were being held to identify other treatment facilities in Rome to send their garbage, and advised residents to keep their windows closed for 48 hours and not to consume food produced in the area.
