Despite the onset of the sea season in western Turkey, Bitlis’ Tatvan district remains blanketed in snow. The Nemrut Mountain road still boasts snow masses up to 5 meters high, even in May. Home to Nemrut Caldera and the world’s second-largest crater lake, this popular tourist destination attracts thousands of visitors annually. The Bitlis Special Provincial Administration recently reopened the snow-covered road, allowing tourists to traverse the impressive snow walls to reach the summit at 2,250 meters and witness the breathtaking views of the award-winning crater lake.
