Snowstorm Cancels 10,000 Flights in Northeastern US

 

A powerful snowstorm swept across the northeastern United States, affecting states including New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts, and forcing the cancellation of more than 10,000 flights. Snowfall reached up to 75 centimeters in some areas, leaving hundreds of thousands without power.

A state of emergency was declared in New York, where authorities urged residents to stay off the roads. Major airports such as Newark, LaGuardia and JFK were among the hardest hit as travel disruptions continued.
