A powerful snowstorm has caused widespread disruption across the USA, leaving at least four people dead. Fatalities were reported in Austin, Georgia, and Milwaukee. Emergency declarations were issued in states including Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama due to severe cold.
Texas highways and airports were shut down, while Louisiana saw rare snowfall, with depths reaching 25 cm in Rayne. In New York’s northern areas, snow accumulated up to 46 cm. Over 2,200 flights were canceled, and 3,000 delayed.
The National Weather Service warned of historic snowfall along the Gulf Coast, with rates exceeding 3 cm per hour in areas from eastern Texas to northwest Florida.
