South Korea Fires Warning Shots at North Korean Vessel

The South Korean military announced it fired warning shots after a North Korean commercial vessel briefly crossed the Northern Limit Line (NLL) near Baengnyeong Island in the Yellow Sea. The incident occurred around 5:00 a.m., and the vessel returned to the North shortly after.

The NLL, drawn after the 1950-53 Korean War, has been a frequent flashpoint, as North Korea does not recognize it as a maritime boundary.
