Lee said the photo symbolized a new phase in South Korea–China relations after a 90-minute meeting that focused on restoring ties and expanding cooperation in technology, trade, and the environment. Xi urged Lee to make “the right strategic choices” and highlighted shared historical experiences, while Lee called the visit a key opportunity to reset relations. It was the first visit by a South Korean leader to China since 2019.
