South Korean Court Extends Yoon’s Detention

The Seoul District Court in South Korea has ruled to extend the detention of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, who declared martial law on the grounds that the opposition is engaged in anti-state activities.

Considering that Yoon sent soldiers to the National Assembly to prevent lawmakers from lifting the martial law decision, the court issued a new arrest warrant for Yoon on charges of “leading a riot” and “abuse of authority.”

It was announced that Yoon could be held in custody for up to 20 days, including the time he was temporarily held in a detention center, as part of the decision taken due to the possibility of tampering with evidence.

It was reported that the CIO will refer Yoon to the prosecutor’s office after his detention period ends and that an indictment will be prepared against Yoon.
