South Korean Lawmakers Stage Hunger Strike Against Yoon

Opposition lawmakers in South Korea have launched a hunger strike demanding the Constitutional Court remove President Yoon Suk Yeol from office after his powers were suspended following a martial law declaration. Lawmakers from the Democratic Party, Reconstruction Party, and Progressive Party issued a joint statement calling for Yoon’s arrest and the resignation of Chief Prosecutor Shim Woo-jung. Some lawmakers, including Park Hong-bae and Kim Moon-soo, shaved their heads in protest. The opposition also urged the ruling People’s Power Party to halt its activities, accusing it of obstructing Yoon’s dismissal.
