South Korean Opposition Leader Stabbed in Neck

Lee Jae-myung, leader of South Korea’s Democratic Party, faced an attack while visiting the construction site of a new airport on Gadeok Island in Busan. During media inquiries, an unidentified individual approached, feigned interest in an autograph, and stabbed Lee in the neck. Lee, conscious after the incident, was initially treated at Pusan National University Hospital and later airlifted to Seoul National University Hospital. The 59-year-old sustained a 1-centimeter neck wound and is reported to be in stable condition. The attacker, in custody, awaits investigation as authorities delve into the motive behind the assault.
