South Korean Opposition Moves to Impeach Interim President

South Korea’s opposition parties have submitted an impeachment motion against interim President Choi Sang-mok, accusing him of failing to appoint a Constitutional Court judge and supporting martial law declared by suspended President Yoon Suk Yeol.

The motion, backed by five opposition parties, including the Democratic Party (DP), must be voted on within 72 hours. With the opposition holding a parliamentary majority, the motion is expected to pass.
