Spain tackles with ongoing forest fires amid heat wave

With the temperature exceeding 40 degrees in Spain, the forest fire that broke out in three different parts of the country continues. According to the statement made by the fire department of the autonomous region of Catalonia, 1,600 hectares of land have been destroyed so far in the fires in the towns of Baldomar in Lleida, Corbera d’Ebre and Castellar Ribera in Tarragona. Hundreds of firefighters, 120 trucks and 19 planes are responding to the flames, officials said.

State meteorological agency AEMET has issued a high risk of forest fires.
