Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez strongly condemned the US and Israeli military campaigns against Iran, telling parliament the conflict is a “senseless and illegal war” that presents a far worse global threat than the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
Defending his popular decision to deny the US access to Spanish air and naval bases for the attacks, Sanchez stated that Madrid will not bear the devastating humanitarian and economic costs of the conflict. He declared that remaining silent in the face of an unjust war is “cowardice” and vowed Spain will never participate in unlawful attacks under his leadership.
