Three Spanish Muslims traveling on horseback to retrace the Hajj route used by Andalusian Muslims 500 years ago have reached Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Abdelkader Harkassi, Abdallah Hernandez, and Tariq Rodriguez began their 8,000-kilometer journey from southern Spain three months ago, aiming to reach Mecca for the 2025 Hajj season. The team trained for three years to prepare for the journey’s physical and climatic challenges, using specially trained Arabian horses.
Their route continues through France, Italy, and the Balkans before reaching Turkey and Saudi Arabia. The project aims to revive a lost historical pilgrimage route and reconnect with Andalusian Muslim heritage.
