A state ceremony was held at Anıtkabir on the 85th anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye. Attended by state ministers and top members of opposition parties, the ceremony started at 08:50 with the dignitaries walking on the Lion Road. After a crescent and star wreath consisting of red and white carnations was laid at Atatürk’s mausoleum, a minute of silence was observed at 09:05, the time at which Atatürk passed away, and the National Anthem was sung.
“No power will be able to prevent Turkey’s rise, the construction of the Turkish Century, and our nation from achieving its centuries-old goals. May your soul rest in peace,” Erdoğan wrote in the Anıtkabir Special Book at the National Pact Tower.
