State of emergency declared over wildfire in Canada

Halifax, the capital of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia (New Scotland), is battling a forest fire. Following the fire’s spread to the settlements where power cuts occurred as well, a state of emergency was declared for a week in the city. Ten homes in Westwood Hills were burned to ashes.

A state of emergency was also declared in Canada’s western province of Alberta, where thousands of hectares of land turned to ash.
