Storm hits Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec

At least eight people were killed in the storm that struck the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec, and nearly one million people were left without power. While trees fell as a result of the storm, with wind speeds reaching 132 kilometers per hour, a 51-year-old woman drowned after her boat capsized in the Ottawa River, which runs through both states.

Hydro One and Hydro Quebec electricity companies reported that approximately 1 million people in both states were left without power, and that it would take a few days to restore power distribution. Furthermore, the storm caused the collapse of 200 power poles in the Ottawa area, officials stated.

A state of emergency has been declared in the towns of Uxbridge and Clarence-Rockland, in the province of Ontario, due to the destruction caused by the storm.
