Storm Bert Claims Six Lives in UK

Storm Bert has caused six fatalities and widespread damage across England and Wales. Thousands of homes and businesses remain without power due to damaged power lines and flooding, while falling trees have damaged vehicles. Transport disruptions include canceled flights and train delays.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed condolences to those affected and praised emergency services, while Welsh First Minister Eluned Morgan called the devastation, especially before Christmas, “heartbreaking.”

Authorities have issued flood warnings for 160 locations, with some classified as “serious and life-threatening,” urging travelers to avoid affected areas, including routes near Stansted Airport.
