Storm Leonardo Causes Fatal Flooding in Portugal and Spain

One person was killed in Portugal after a vehicle was swept away by floodwaters triggered by Storm Leonardo. Flooding was reported in Alcácer do Sal, south of Lisbon, after the Sado River overflowed, prompting authorities to raise the national alert level to its highest and warn of further river flooding.

In neighboring Spain, the national weather agency AEMET said the storm brought exceptional rainfall, with red alerts issued in parts of Andalusia. Heavy rain flooded homes, farmland, and vehicles, raising concerns over landslides and further damage.
