Storm-Stranded ‘Vamos’ Ship: 50 Tons of Fuel Evacuated

The vessel, “Vamos,” flagged from Cameroon, was driven ashore and grounded as a result of the November 27 storm hitting Kastamonu’s İnebolu district in Türkiye. Following the unloading of cargo at the port, the ship ran aground, leaving 11 crew members, including 2 Turkish nationals, stranded. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of AFAD, the coast guard, fire brigade, and gendarmerie teams, the crew was successfully evacuated from the ship.

With the storm subsiding and sea levels returning to normal, the process of fuel evacuation from the “Vamos” vessel commenced. This operation, conducted under the supervision of İnebolu Port Authority and İnebolu Customs Directorate, involves the removal of approximately 50 tons of fuel from the vessel.
