A suspicious package was found in front of the parliament building in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. “A pressure cooker with the inscription “NO MCC” was found near the south gate of the Parliament building,” said Hari Bahadur Pal, Chief of Ranipokhari Metropolitan Police Office. “It was suspected that it might be a bomb.” The suspicious incident followed the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement, which included US-backed $500 million in grant aid and was protested by various groups. The deal was ratified late yesterday, despite protests on the street and in parliament. After the parliamentary approval yesterday, 6 different parties, including the Communist Party of Nepal led by Netra Bikram Chand, announced that they will gather today to protest the MCC.
