Sweden’s Kristersson adresses Turkey’s security concerns

At a press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Sweden’s new Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, stated that Sweden will increase efforts to address Turkey’s security concerns about NATO membership, and that he is ready to visit Ankara as soon as possible.

“Joining the alliance will make you safer, NATO will be stronger, and the Euro-Atlantic region will be safer,” Stoltenberg said, recalling the historic decision to invite Sweden and Finland to NATO membership at the NATO Leaders Summit in Madrid in June. “Your participation will strengthen the alliance’s presence in the north and deepen Nordic-Baltic defense cooperation,” he said.
