Swedish PM Andersson resigns after elections

Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson announced her resignation following her defeat in the parliamentary elections. In Sweden’s general election last Sunday, right-wing parties received 49.7 percent of the vote, while the left-wing bloc, which included Andersson’s Social Democratic Party, received 48.8 percent. “It is clear that the right bloc has narrowly won the majority in the parliament,” Andersson said at the press conference. “I will demand that I be removed as prime minister tomorrow, and responsibility for the ongoing process will be transferred to the Speaker of the Parliament and the Parliament,” Andersson said.
