Switzerland’s Emme River overflows after heavy rains

Emme river in Switzerland overflowed due to heavy rains, causing floods in the cantons of Bern, Lucerne and Obwalden. Houses and work places were flooded, while authorities issued a flood warning for the area along the river, asking the public to stay away for disaster area.

The Emmental Governor’s Office announced that the Kemmeriboden-Bad Hotel had been evacuated as a result of flooding and that hotel staff and guests were relocated to a farm in Schwand.

So far, no one has died or been injured in the floods.
