Internal security units linked to the Syrian Interior Ministry have begun deploying to Hasakah following a ceasefire and integration agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The deal, reached on January 30, came into force as Syrian army units entered the city to take over security duties.
Hasakah security commander Brigadier General Marwan al-Ali said the priority was protecting civilians, restoring public order, and reopening the provincial airport. Syria’s Interior Ministry said the move aims to transfer security control fully to state institutions and strengthen stability, with similar deployments planned for Hasakah and Qamishli.
