Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara arrived in Moscow on his first official visit to Russia, accompanied by Foreign Minister Assad Hassan Shaybani and Defense Minister Marhaf Abu Qasra. The Kremlin announced that al-Shara will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the reconstruction of Russia’s two military bases in Syria and broader defense cooperation.
French media reported that al-Shara is also expected to raise the issue of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s extradition during the visit.
