Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara, attending the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, was greeted with enthusiasm by Syrians gathered outside UN headquarters.
Unlike previous years, when anti-Assad protests dominated, this time demonstrators gathered to welcome al-Shara. After delivering his address, the Syrian president approached the crowd, where he was met with chants and a strong show of affection.
