Syrian Scholar Thanks Türkiye for Supporting Syrians

Syrian Islamic scholar Abdullazez Al-Hatib al-hasani expressed gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish people for their support and hospitality toward Syrians during the country’s prolonged civil war. He criticized Arab states for abandoning the mujahideen and praised Erdoğan for aiding Syria’s liberation and reconstruction efforts.

Following the Syrian civil war, which began in 2011 and claimed nearly 400,000 lives, opposition forces overthrew the Assad regime on November 27, marking a new era for the nation. Al-hasani highlighted the extensive migration and suffering caused by the conflict, stating, “The Assad regime left Syria in ruins, but a free Syria will rebuild.”

Acknowledging Türkiye’s role, he said, “President Erdoğan is the only leader who stood with us, supporting our fight for freedom and helping the oppressed. We deeply thank him and the Turkish people for their generosity and patience during these challenging years.” Thousands of Syrian refugees in Türkiye are now returning home as stability returns.
