The historic Umayyad Mosque in Damascus hosted its third Friday prayer since the fall of the Assad regime. Hundreds of Syrians gathered in the mosque’s courtyard and interior to perform prayers, marking the occasion with chants of takbir to celebrate their liberation.
Turkish citizens joined the congregation, sharing in the moment of unity and reflection. Yusuf Hakan Er, a visitor from Istanbul, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to pray at the mosque, saying, “We have waited a long time for this moment. The joy of the people here is our joy as well.”
The mosque, a symbol of Syria’s rich history, has become a place of renewed hope for the nation’s future.
