Syrians in Türkiye Sell Cars To Return

Syrians living in Hatay, Türkiye, are selling their vehicles below market prices as they prepare to return to Syria after years of displacement. The car market in Antakya’s Haraparası Neighborhood has seen increased activity, with vehicles priced between 300,000 and 500,000 TL offered at reduced rates to expedite sales.

Muhammed Ismail, planning to return to Idlib, said, “I have been living here for 13 years. I want to sell my car for 300,000 TL and return to Syria to rebuild my life.” Similarly, Eyman Barkur, who sold his car for 250,000 TL, shared, “After the schools close, I will go back to Syria to renovate my home and start over.”

Market observers note this trend began after the fall of the Assad regime. The influx of affordable vehicles has added vitality to the local market.
