Syrians in Damascus are repairing cemeteries damaged by bombings from the Assad regime, which targeted residential areas and graveyards. In the Palestinian Camp cemetery, graves were reduced to rubble, making it difficult for families to locate loved ones’ burial sites.
“They even bombed cemeteries to erase the traces of the people,” said Mohtasem Omayri, who is restoring his grandfather’s grave. He added, “All the graves have been destroyed. Our relatives are repairing them one by one. Palestinian and Lebanese martyrs are also buried here.”
