Syrians Return Home as Peace Restores Hope

Syrians in Türkiye are returning to their homeland through border crossings in Hatay as the 13-year civil war comes to an end. Tarık Muhammed, who fled the conflict in 2015 and lived in Elazığ for nine years, expressed gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish people. “No one left Syria for fun. We all missed our homeland,” he said.

The war’s conclusion saw opposition forces end the regime, reigniting hope among displaced Syrians. Returning through the Zeytindalı Border Gate, Muhammed plans to reunite with family in Idlib despite challenges, such as a damaged home in Aleppo. He added, “Ahmed Ash-Shara will rebuild Syria to be like Europe.”
