In Damascus, Syrians celebrated the fall of the Assad regime by tearing down a statue of Hafez al-Assad, father of Bashar al-Assad, in Umayyad Square.
The statue was tied to a truck and dragged through the streets as crowds chanted anti-Assad slogans and shouted takbirs. These celebrations come after the end of the 61-year-old Baath regime, marking a significant moment of change in Syria.
