Rumeysa Gelgi, the world’s tallest woman at 2.15 meters, and Jyoti Amge, the world’s shortest woman at 62.8 centimeters, met for the first time in London on Guinness World Records Day, November 21, 2024. The historic meeting included a tea session where the two shared their life stories and experiences.
Gelgi, 27, said, “Meeting Jyoti was amazing. We had difficulty making eye contact due to our height difference, but it was great. We have things in common, like makeup and personal care.” Amge expressed joy, saying, “I was happy to look up and see the world’s tallest woman. Rumeysa is very nice, and I felt comfortable talking to her.”
The duo, celebrated as “Guinness World Records Icons” for the record book’s 70th anniversary, have inspiring achievements. Gelgi, who has Weaver Syndrome, holds four records, including “world’s tallest living woman” and “woman with the longest fingers.” Amge, an actress with achondroplasia, holds titles such as the “shortest living actress” and “shortest living woman.”
