Tea Harvest Begins in Türkiye’s Ordu, the Land of Hazelnuts

In Ordu, tea production emerged as an alternative to hazelnuts, captivating a select few. While Rize began harvesting earlier, Ordu faced delays due to unfavorable weather. Each year, Persembe produced around 50 tons of tea. Workers faced challenges but earned higher wages compared to hazelnut harvests.

Tea producer İhsan Aydın noted lower crop yields this year. Despite declining tea production and rising costs, some farmers remained dedicated. The quality of Thursday tea from Persembe was highly regarded in the Black Sea region.
