Teams mobilizes to fight floods in south China

As heavy rainfalls continue to hit south China, Chinese authorities have mobilized great efforts to fight the floods. East China’s Jiangxi Province upgraded the flood control emergency response to “Level 2” on June 20 evening, as around 485,000 residents were affected by the rainfall. Meanwhile, evacuation efforts have been carried out in Sizhou Town. Sizhou Town Party Secretary Leng Yuan made a statement on the evacuation efforts “To ensure their safety, we evacuated all the villagers staying on the second and third floors to our designated shelter,” Leng Yuan said.

On the other hand, recent downpours in south China’s Pearl River basin have also affected some parts of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which activated the highest level of response on June 21. On June 21, China earmarked 200 million yuan of central disaster-relief funds. It’ll be used to support flood-control and disaster-relief efforts in the provinces of Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. After entering the flood season, China has allocated 560 million yuan to help local governments in flood control and disaster relief.
