About 52 percent of new COVID-19 infections in Thailand were confirmed to be caused by the new Omicron sub-variant XBB.1.16, also known as Arcturus. One infected person has died. The public was advised to wear face masks to prevent the spread of the variant.
The Department of Disease Control reported a total of 1,088 cases recorded between April 16 and April 22.
