Thailand battles heaviest monsoons in 20 years

Mansoon rains in Thailand overflowed rivers. Many homes and buildings were flooded. Streets in Bangkok were filled with flood waters, causing vehicles to submerge. Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt said in a statement yesterday that flood waters reached 170 cm, the highest level in the last 20 years, while conducting a damage assessment on the capital’s streets.

At a cabinet meeting yesterday, the Thai government decided to allocate 1.6 million Thai baht in the aid budget due to flooding in the country.
